National team manager Patrick Ntege says that former Uganda Cranes captain Ibrahim Sekagya could have excelled in the English Premier league.

Ntege who was appearing at NBS Sport Uganda program Endiba Yaffe stated that if Sekagya had joined Salzburg in his early 20s he could have attracted attention from several English sides.

“If Sekagya had joined Salzburg in his early 20s, I believe he would have played and excelled in the English Premier league. I remember at one time West Ham were interested in him but it was unfortunate at the time of his peak he was a bit older.”

Ntege also hailed the Cranes legend for supporting Ugandans in various capacities. Sekagya made 35 national team caps and scored three goals.

Ntege also asserted that he was more talented than Sekagya

“I was Sekagya’s captain in the U18 team and I was more talented than him. I have also told him this whenever have met.” Said Ntege
