There was plenty of action across the globe over the weekend as league engagements resumed.

A good number of Ugandan players were busy with their respective clubs. Emmanuel Okwi, Ronald Mukiibi, Mahad Kayondo were all on the score sheet once again. Mustafa Kizza and Ismail Watenga continued impressing at CF Montreal and Chippa United respectively whereas Farouk Miya continued to struggle for playing time at Konyaspor.

Joseph Mpande, Taddeo Lwanga and left back Alex Kakuba returned from the sidelines at their respective clubs.

Joseph Mpande Mbolimbo returned to action for Hai Phong after missing the first 12 league games due to a delayed clearance by the Vietnamese V. League authorities. Mpande played his first game of the season in the midweek (2-0 win over Song Lam Nghe An) before featuring in the 3-0 defeat to Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.

Godfrey Baba Kizito was on the score sheet for Than Quang Ninh in their 1-1 draw with Binh Dinh on Sunday. Baba Kizito who features as a right back, scored the equalizer of the game with a sublime shot from outside the box in the 70th minute.

Moses Oloya came off the bench in the 62nd minute to replace Van Toan Day as Ha Noi FC beat Sai Gon 3-1 on Sunday.

Zambia
Goalkeeper Yasin Mugabi was not part of the Red Arrows team that beat Lusaka Dynamos 3-1 in the Zambian League on Saturday.

Shafik Batambuze (injured) also missed Kabwe Warriors’ 2-0 win over Lumwana Radiants on Saturday

Mustafa Kizza played his third game of the Major League Soccer season as CF Montreal drew 0-0 with Columbus Crew on Saturday. He was withdrawn in the 80th minute for Bjorn Johnsen.

Striker Edward Kizza was an unused substitute as New England Revolution beat Atlanta United 2-1 on Sunday morning. Kizza is a younger brother to former Cranes defender Henry Kalungi and former URA and SC Villa CEO Ivan Kakembo.

Mike Azira made his debut for New Mexico United as they fell 1-0 to Rio Grande Valley in the USL Championship (second tier). He was withdrawn at the start of the second half for Sergio Rivas.

Turkey
Farouk Miya was an unused substitute as Konyaspor thumped Fatih Karagumruk 5-1 in the Turkish Super Lig on Sunday. The Uganda Cranes offensive midfielder is yet to feature for Konyaspor in a period of one month making five bench appearances in the process.

Tanzania
Taddeo Lwanga returned from a compassionate leave as Simba fought from a goal down to eliminate Kagera Sugar 2-1 in the FA Cup on Saturday. He was replaced by Bernand Morrison at the start of the second half.

Former SC Victoria University midfielder Jackson Kibirige played for Kagera Sugar.

Defender Ronald Mukiibi scored his second goal of the season in the 9th minute as Ostersunds lost 2-1 to Varbergs BOIS in the Swedish top-flight on Sunday. Mukiibi scored in their 1-1 draw against Malmo a week before.

Striker Alexis Bbakka was an unused substitute as Umea FC drew 2-2 with Gefle IF in the third tier on Saturday.

Moses Waiswa was an unused substitute as Supersport United drew 1-1 with Baroka FC on Saturday.

Striker Daniel Isiagi Opolot played 60 minutes before he was replaced by Sekela Moeketsi as Jomo Cosmos beat Bizana Pondo Chiefs in the South African second tier league on Saturday.

Defender Bevis Mugabi came off the bench in the 72nd minute to replace Steven Lawless as Motherwell beat Kilmarnock 2-0 in the Scottish Premiership on Saturday.

Rwanda
Goalkeeper Shamiru Batte was not part of the AS Kigali team that won 4-2 against Musanze as the Rwandan league kicked off on Saturday.

Ugandan trio of Pius Wangi, Sulaiman Majanjalo and Hood Kaweesa played for Moses Basena’s Sunrise FC who drew 1-1 with Mukura Sports on Saturday. Kaweesa, formerly at Police FC in the UPL, was making his debut.

Romania
Striker Mahad Kayondo scored in the 90th minute as CSC Ghiroda Giarmata beat ACS Poli Timisoara 4-1 in the Romanian third tier on Saturday. Kayondo is an elder brother of Vipers’ left back Aziz Kayondo.

Portugal
Left back Alex Kakuba returned from the sidelines after one and half months. He was an unused substitute as his CD Cova da Piedade lost 5-1 to FC Porto B in the Portuguese second tier league.

Morocco
Patrick Kaddu (injured) didn’t feature for Youssoufia Berrechid who lost 1-0 to Difaa El Jadida on Sunday.

Nelson Ssenkatuka was also not part of the Moghreb Tetouan team that drew 1-1 with Rapid Oued Zem on Sunday night.

Israel
Timothy Awany and Fahad Bayo missed Ashdod’s 1-1 draw with Hapoel Ironi Kiryat Shmona on Saturday. Both players are nursing injuries.

William Kizito Luwagga is expected to be in action for Hapoel Kfar Saba who play against Hapoel Tel Aviv. Luwagga and teammates were officially relegated last week.

Uche Ikpeazu Mubiru scored the lone goal as Wycombe Wanderers stunned Bournemouth 1-0 in the Championship on Saturday.

Elvis Bwomono played full-time as Southend beat Barrow 2-1 in League Two on Saturday. Despite the 2-1 win, Southend were officially relegated with one game to go.

Jayden Onen was on the score sheet for the Reading U-23 team in their 5-0 win over Wolverhampton U-23 on Friday. Onen scored in the first minute of the game before he was booked in the 56th minute.

Joseph Ochaya played full-time as TP Mazembe beat Sanga Balende 1-0 in the Congolese Linafoot league on Sunday.
