Olympians express readiness ahead of their Pro debuts

Olympians Shadir Musa Bwogi, David Ssemujju and Catherine Nanziri will officially begin their Pro Boxing journey on Friday, 1st April at the Philip Omondi Stadium in Lugogo.

This will be the first time in Boxing history of Uganda were by three Olympians will make their professional boxing debuts on the same day and event.

The trio was last seen in the ring in October last year. They have all expressed readiness ahead of their new journey in Boxing.

Shadir will be taking on Herbert Mugalula in the main act fight whereas Ssemujju will lock horns with Latigo Hamza Champion.

Nanziri who became Uganda’s first ever female Boxer at the Olympic games will face off with Tanzanian Husnah Zamba who replaced Kenyan Nicholine Achieng.

Shadir a former Bombers captain is optimistic ahead of his first Pro fight

“I am very ready for my first boxing fight. Of course I expect nothing more than a win since have been training and am confident of victory tomorrow.”

Said Shadir

Before turning professional, Shadir had represented Uganda at the 2017 African Championships, 2018 Commonwealth Games and 2019 African Games.

Ssemujju who won a silver medal in the 2019 African Games also expects victory on his Pro debut

“The only change is now we are fighting for money and this is a great opportunity for me to express all my abilities as a Boxer.” Victory tomorrow will officially unveil me into Pro Boxing and so I call upon all the fans to come and have a new Boxing experience.” Stated Ssemujju.

The fights are organized by new Boxing Promotions company 12 Sports Round Promotions under Stephen Sembuya Magulu.
