Denis Onyango’s Mamelodi Sundowns edged Kaizer Chiefs to the 2019/20 PSL title in a dramatic conclusion of the South African topflight.
The legendary Ugandan international missed out on his side’s 3-0 win over Black Leopards on Saturday through injury.
Lebohang Maboe scored a hat trick as the Brazilians won the league title for a third consecutive time and a record 10th.This is the second time that the Pretoria outfit have won three league titles in row after their 1998,1999 and 2000.

Going into the contest, Sundowns needed Chiefs to slip up against Baroka and at least better the result on final day. The Brazilians however, sealed their fate of the league title following a Chiefs 1-1 draw away to Baroka.
Chiefs who at one time had 13 point lead missed out a chance to win the league title for the first time since the 2014/15 season.
Onyango who did not complete the campaign in goal due to injury was influential to his side’s unprecedented success.

The Uganda Cranes Captain has now won seven PSL league titles, four with Sundowns and three with SuperSport.
Sundowns finished with 59 points on the ABSA Premiership log in the 30 league games they played on their way to glory.
