Uganda Martyrs University stormed the 2022 Pepsi University Football League final after eliminating defending champions Uganda Christian University.
Sunny Kaija scored the only goal of the game as Uganda Martyrs edged UCU 1-0 in the second leg semifinal tie played at Nkozi on Thursday.
Kaija’s goal levelled the tie on aggregate since UCU had won with the same result in Mukono last week.
The winner was to be decided via a penalty shootout with Uganda Martyrs advancing 5-4 on penalties.

Uganda Martyrs prevail to the final for the first time since 2017 when they went all the way to clinch their maiden Pepsi University Football League title at the expense of two-time champions Makerere University Business School 2-0.
Uganda Martyrs will play the winner between St. Lawrence University and MUBS in the final that is scheduled for 12th November 2022 at Lugogo.
St. Lawrence won the first leg 2-1 on Tuesday in Kavule, they will face off in the return leg on November 1st in Nakawa.
