Uganda premier league top scorer Hood Kaweesa left for greener pastures during the January transfer window.
Kaweesa joined Zambian outfit Buildcon FC but head coach Abdallah Mubiru matains that the club will be in position to cope with life without their talisman. He says,
“We lost Hood and we shall miss him but we wish him the best. He set a good example for the rest of the players because he went at a good fee”.
Abdallah adds that potential replacements are being lined up and negotiations are underway. These will be unveiled before the league resumes next month.
” We have many players who are good enough to take up the task. Norman Ogik and Basan Safi are some of them. We are also on the verge of siging Pius Kaggwa formerly at Sitegota and Luzinda Mufut formerly of Kibuli SS. We are also in talks with Vipers sc for Ashiraf Mandela on a loan deal” He concluded.
Besides Hood Kaweesa, Police club has lost a number of players including Yasin Mugume and Gift Ali who were also released on mutual conscent.
Ibrahim Kibuumba who was seen playing for URA fc during the Mapinduzi tournament in Zanzibar is still a police FC player with a valid contract and Mubiru pointed out that his fate will be decided by the disciplinary committee.He said;
” Kibuumba is still our player with a running contract which ends in June. We expect him to be with us in training but he has not reported yet. His fate will be decided by the club disciplinary committee” He concluded.
Police fc lies in the 4th position on the log of 16 teams but will play the second round without their topscorer Hood Kaweesa (7 goals) who signed for Zambian club Buildcon FC.
