Rwanda sides clinch 2023 NSSF KAVC international Volleyball titles

The three day NSSF KAVC international volleyball tournament climaxed on Sunday at the Lugogo Indoor Stadium in Kampala.

Just like last year, Rwanda sides again prevailed.

In the Women’s Final, APR retained the title after overcoming Uganda’s Ndejje University while Rwanda National Police beat Burundi’s Rukinzo Volleyball Club to clinch the men’s title.

APR men’s team won the 2022 edition beating Uganda’s KAVC but this time didn’t participate in this year’s competition.

Rwanda National Police won the first two sets by six points (25-19, 25-19). Rukinzo lost the third set 25-13.

The women’s final was another entertaining one as well with APR winning the first set 25-16. The second set ended 25-18 as the Rwandan side extended their lead before sealing the contest with 25-20 in the third set.

Meanwhile, KCB Nkumba beat Seroma Girls 2-3(22-25, 25-17,25-17) in the women’s third place playoff while South Sudan’s Cobra VC powered past Tanzania’s KIU 3-0 (25-19, 25-18, 25-22) to finish third in the men’s event.

The final was graced by Dr.Diana Atwine the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Health (MoH).

Kampala Amateur Volleyball Club President, Irene Kiconco was also in attendance.

KAVC has won the most titles since inception (men) with 7 trophies followed by Sport-S (4).

KAVC women have won 8 titles, two better than KCCA.

NSSF is the tournament lead sponsor. The partners are; Crown Beverages Limited, Ministry of Health, Good Life Pharmacy, NBS Sport, Uganda Volleyball Federation, National Council of Sports.
