SC Villa beat their arch rivals Express FC 2-0 at the Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku on Friday.

Second half goals from Ivan Sserubiri and substitute Charles Bbaale inspired the Jogoos to their second win of the season in three games.

SC Villa will have to thank their custodian Martin Elungat who made several saves in both halves. The former Mbarara City goalie has now registered three clean sheets this season.

Defender Kenneth Semakula was handed is first start of the season having missed the first two games against Gaddafi and Onduparaka respectively.

In the first half, Express FC’s in form forward Allan Kayiwa was denied by Elungat’s fantastic save.

Elungat was again forced into another save by Akandwanaho. At the halftime breather it was goalless.

Two minutes after the recess, Elungat tipped over Kayiwa’s effort.

In the 55th minute, Sserubiri perfectly beat Denis Otim with a superb free kick to send the home fans into delight.

Moments later, second half substitute Bbaale doubled Villa’s advantage.

Kayiwa had another decent chance to pull one back but his header went over the bar.

By fulltime whistle, Jackson Magera’s charges smiled to maximum points and are now on 7 points level with leaders BUL FC who are their next opponents.

This was the Red Eagles first defeat of the campaign and will next host Gaddafi FC.
