Sebuguzi wins Kaliro Sugar Rally

Ronald Sebuguzi clinched the Kaliro Sugar Rally on Sunday in Jinja. The rally was the sixth round on the NRC Calendar.

Before his victory in Jinja, Sebuguzi’s last rally victory was in 2019 at the CMC Rally in Mukono.

Him and Anthony Mugambwa in their Ford Fiesta Proto held on to their lead.

Duncan Mubiru who was their close rival and leader of day one retired in the morning stage on Sunday.

Sebuguzi won the rally in a time of 1 hour 40 minutes and 20 seconds to end his 12 winless Rally streak.

Jonas Kansiime and Ivan Tushabe finished second 3 minutes and 23 seconds behind winner Sebuguzi.

The second place finish also helped the crew to move second on the National Rally calendar with 271.5 points, 60.5 points behind leader Ponsiano Lwakataka.

Byron Rugomoka and Hakim Mawanda settled for third place while Fred Busulwa and Oscar Ntambi finishing fourth and fifth respectively.

Mike Mukula and Edward Kiyingi cruised to another win and edge closer towards the clubman Rally Championship.

Meanwhile, the final round of the National Rally Championship is slated for 11th December in Kigezi Region.
