Shell sponsored Blick, Ssebuguzi optimistic ahead of Pearl Rally

Shell sponsored crews of Ronald Ssebuguzi and Arthur Blick are optimistic ahead of the 2022 Shell V-Power Pearl of Africa Rally.

The event which will third round of the African and Uganda Rally championship is scheduled for May 6th to 8th.

2015 National Rally champion Blick revealed that he is very ready for the Championship and hailed his sponsors shell

“We are thankful for the support rendered to us from our sponsors Shell Vivo. We are very ready for the competition and we shall give our best as a team during the rally.” Stated Blick on Thursday evening at Shell Lugogo

Blick will be racing alongside his son Alestair Blick as a navigator in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X.

Ssebuguzi who finished third at the 2006 Pearl of Africa rally will be in Lancer Evo IX alongside his navigator Anthony Mugambwa.

“I am grateful that I will be returning to the Africa Rally after two years. This will be the third time that I will be taking part in the competition.” This time I am going to drive Evo 9 not 10 and as team Shell we are very ready. Our roads are a bit slippery but nothing is so special about them we are ready for the championship.” Said Ssebuguzi

The rally will kick off with on Friday at Mweru.

The drivers are braced for five stages on Saturday Shekar Mehta, Kivuvu 1, Kasaku Chai, Nakiwunga 1 and Kivuvu 2.

Sunday’s showdown will have four stages Shekar Mehta 2, Kivuvu 3, Nakiwunga 2 and Kivuvu 4, with an overall total rally distance of 426.50km.

Over 48 crews have been registered for the event, including foreign drivers like Jean Giessen from Rwanda, Imitiaz Awan from Burundi, Wahome Maxime and Wahome Jeremiah from Kenya, Imitiaz Awan from Burundi and Gomes Leroy from Zambia.
