Kampala Queens concluded the first of the FUFA Women Super League with maximum points after edging Rines SS 1-0 in their final game at Kabaka Kyabaggu.

Like it was last season, it was Margaret Kunihira who inflicted pain to Rines after the diminutive Crested Cranes winger scored the lone goal of the game in the 8th minute.

The win made it nine in nine for the Hamza Lutalo coached side who have garnered 27 points, eight more than second placed Uganda Martyrs.

The Queens are enjoying a 26 match unbeaten record and if the current situation is something to go by, they are bound to clinch their first title in the early stages of the second round.

In other games played on Sunday, She Corporate defeated Asubo Gafford Ladies 3-1 at the Kampala Quality pitch courtesy of goals from Phiona Nabbumba, Joanita Ainembabazi and Cissy Nakate.

Madina Nakaayi had given Asubo Gafford Ladies an early lead which short-lived as Nabbumba equalized from the spot in the 13th minute.

Olila High School defeated Makerere University 3-1 in the late kick off at Soroti thanks to goals from Cecilia Apiding, Dorcus Lwalisa and Apio Daphine while Daphine Nalubowa got the consolation for the losing side.

The league now takes a two month break and will resume in the first week of February next year.

UCU Lady Cardinals winger Ashait Nalugwa and Resty Nanziri of Kampala Queens lead the top scorers table with seven goals each.
