Team Uganda scoops ten bronze Medals as Uganda International Juniors Championship Climaxes

The Uganda International Juniors championship that shuttled off on Monday this week have climaxed today, Wednesday 1st, March, 2023 with Uganda winning ten bronze medals.

The awarding ceremony was graced by Uganda Communication Commission, Acting Executive Director Otunu Fred who thanked team Uganda for achieving and winning the medals they could and asked other Corporate companies and government to join UCC and support sports in the country.

None of the Ugandan players prevailed past the semifinal stage but they managed to win bronze medals in women singles, men singles, men doubles and women doubles.

The All Africa Badminton Senior Championship gold medalist Fadilah Shamika won two bronze medals in singles and women doubles.

Tracy Naluwooza who lost at quarter finals in singles yesterday, she managed to secure a bronze medal in Women doubles, she doubled with Shamika Fadilah Muhammed Rafi and they lost to UAE duo of Taabia Khan and Mysha Omer Khan [16-21,19-21].

Aaron Ndawula, Akbar Oduka, Guna Kusal , Reagan Michael Nsubuga and Abed Bukenya all won bronze medals in men doubles.

Uganda also two bronze medals in mixed doubles courtesy of Arafat Tendo Kibirige and Claire Namirembe.

However, the players from UAE proved that they are exceptional in this juniors Championship, winning gold medals in men singles and doubles.

Actually the men’s singles, and women’s final were between players from UAE.

Bharath Latheesh won the gold medal after beating Dev Vishnu from the same country.
Sanika Dhawan Gurav from UAE won the hola medal after beating Taralaxmi Karthikeyan.
