Uganda Premier League outfit Kyetume FC have agreed terms to sign high rated goalkeeper Emmanuel Were Derrick, Swift Sports has learnt.

After smooth negotiations, Were will put pen to paper on a two year contract with the Mukono based outfit to complete his move from Buganda Regional League side Kiyinda Boys FC.

Were is a household name in the Masaza Cup having won the prestigious tournament on three occasions, twice with Ssingo (2015 and 2018) and once at Buddu in 2016.

Prior to this year’s Masaza Cup edition, the youthful goalkeeper signed for record champions Gomba in June.

He was an instrumental captain at Uganda Christian University (UCU) as they won the 2019 Pepsi University Football League and the AUUS trophy at University of Kisubi.

His heroic exploits elevated him both the MVP and best goalkeeper accolades in the Pepsi University League last year.

Were has in the recent past featured for Kiboga Young, Royal Giant, Blessed Sacrament Kimanya and Risah Standard High among others.

He is expected to boost Kyetume’s goalkeeping department that has Joel Mutakubwa as the club’s first choice glovesman.

Kyetume FC finished 11th in their debut Uganda Premier League season with 30 points collected from 25 games played.

They are expected to unveil Onduparaka duo of Muhammad Rashid and Ezra Bida alongside lanky striker Raymond Walugembe as their first signings in the ongoing transfer window.
