Uganda Boxing Champions league: Khassim Murungi beats Kyobe Dakar slot as Nakalema powers past Namutebi

The Uganda Boxing Champions league returned on Saturday night, August 12th with the special edition at the New Obligato.

The winners in the special edition earned themselves tickets to Dakar for the 2024 Olympic Qualifiers.

Both the men’s and women’s qualifying tournament will be held in Dakar, Senegal from September 9 to 15, 2023.

Khassim Murungi beat Kyobe Jonah by split decision (4:1) in the featherweight category 57Kg to earn a slot to Dakar.

The mouthwatering female welterweight bout was between 2023 Africa Silver medalist Erina Namutebi and bronze medalist Emily Nakalema.

Nakalema unanimously (5:0) powered past Namutebi in the entertaining bout.

Africa Bronze medalist Geko Solomon lost to Zikama Sabath by split decision (3:2) in the heavyweight bout 92+ Kgs.

Uganda Bombers captain Joshua Tukamuhebwa unanimously (5:0) beat Onen Jaffer.

Baraka James was unanimously defeated (5:0) by Jamidali Adam in the heavyweight bout.

Ndagire Sharua beat Kansiime Phionah by split decision (4:1) in the Featherweight female category.

Grace Nankinga stopped Nantongo Shakira in round 2 of the Flyweight female category.

Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi and the Uganda Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye Kityo both graced the special Boxing Champions league edition.
