Uganda Cranes to start AFCON Qualifiers away against Algeria

Uganda Cranes will start their 2023 AFCON Qualifiers with an away duel against two time champions Algeria.

This follows the draw for the group stages held on Tuesday in South Africa that pitted Uganda alongside Algeria, Niger and neighbors Tanzania.

The qualifiers will officially begin on 30th May 2022 and conclude on March 28th next year.

All the six group games for each team will be played in three windows with the first one coming between May 30th – 14th June.

Uganda will play both Algeria (away) and Niger at home during the aforementioned window.

During the second window, Uganda will face off with neighbors Tanzania in a double header between 19th – 27th September 2022.

The last group games will be played in the third window as Uganda will host Algeria before visiting Niger between 20th – 28th March.

The top two teams in the group will automatically qualify for the 2023 AFCON tournament to be held in Ivory Coast between June and July next year.

Match Day 1 & 2 (30th May – 14th June 2022)

• Tanzania vs Uganda
