UPDF 0-1 POLICE: Hood Kaweesa’s strike hands Steven Bogere a harsh welcome

Hood Kaweesa is joined by Ben Ocen in celebration for Police s goal

By: Danito Nsubuga

Newly appointed UPDF tactician Steven Bogere has been handed a harsh welcome to his new job when his team fell to a painful 1-0 loss to Police FC.

Hood Kaweesa struck from a cleverly orchestrated move from Ben Ocen to get Police off the mark in the 16th minute of the first period. That goal was also sent Kaweesa to the top of the scorers’ charts level with Bright Star’s Nelson Senkatuka

UPDF looked the better side through out the game but they were made to pay for their strikers’ prolifigacy in front of goal. Julius Malingumu and Walter Rubankene were both guilty of missing clear cut chances in the first half.

Steven Bogere reacted in the second half but introducing veteran striker Godfrey Wakaza for Julius Malingumu but his effectiveness was also wanting.

Police’s Abdallah Mubiru substituted Albert Mugisa for Basani Safi to strengthen his midfield, a directive which he followed to the book. Makeera Shakur and Norman Ogik were both sent on for Gift Ali and Hood Kawesa respectively.

Godfrey Wakaza went so close to finding a late equaliser for the Army side but goal keeper Davis Mutebi was up to the task as he stretched swiftly to save all 3 points for Police Fc

Police’s first win away from home has seen them climb to the top of the log whereas UPDF have succumbed to their 5th loss of the season inclining them to the bottom of the table with just 5 points collected
