After parting ways with head coach Sam Bamweyana Ssimbwa, Uganda’s representatives in the CAF Confederation cup have lined up former BUL and national under 17 coach Peter Onen.

The team is currently under the temporary stewardship of former captain Simeon Masaba who was tasked to start preparing the team for the CAF engagements as a head coach is found.

This website understands that the revenue collectors have met and held negotiations with Onen and a compromise will be reached soon.

“The club is in the process of recruiting a head coach and this will be announced in the due course”.

A source told Swift Sports Uganda.

“Masaba (Simeon) is a good coach and the club would love to have him as a head coach but he currently lacks the required qualifications to lead the team especially at CAF level so we have contacted Onen (Peter) and he will unless otherwise be unveiled early next month.”

Onen is currently without a club after parting ways with Bukedea Town Council (now known as Blacks Power).

The former SC Villa midfielder has been relentlessly linked to Mbarara City, Onduparaka, UPDF as well as Arua Hill in the past two months.

He is a CAF A holder who has previously coached Gulu United FC and BUL FC as well as St. Julian High School and Layibi College.

He is remembered to have guided the National U-17 Team to the AFCON qualification after winning the maiden CECAFA U-17 East African zonal Tournament in Tanzania in 2017.
