“I maybe say enough is enough and this is a nice audience to say maybe I will not renew my contract. It is on a bitter note because I cannot be abuse and i am not paid. If I was abused and paid, I would say yes I am abused because I am paid but I am a volunteer.” Said Mugerwa

In July 2015, Fred Mugerwa was fired from his role as the head coach of She Cranes under dubious circumstances. He had just coached the team to the Netball World Cup that was barely a month away at the time of his sacking.

He was reappointed as head coach after Sarah Babirye Kityo had taken over as the Uganda Netball Federation President in 2021. Mugerwa replaced Vincent Kiwanuka.
