Villa steer five clear of the relegation zone with emphatic victory over Wakiso Giants

Wakiso Giants 1-2 SC Villa

Benson Muhindo has proved to be a go to man for Petros Koukras after holding his nerve to convert a 59th minute penalty which earned SC Villa a much needed victory against 10 man Wakiso Giants.

The Jogoos also managed to avenge the first round defeat inflicted on them by Wakiso Giants at Kavumba.

Muhindo’s goal came as a relief giver to goalkeeper Martin Senkooto who had gifted Wakiso Giants with an first half equaliser.

The young custodian poorly dealt with a shot that he could have easily collected and he spilled it in Moses Aliro’s path to level matters for the home side.

Villa had taken an early deserved lead through defender Gift Fred who leaped highest to head in a Nicholas Kabonge corner kick on 7 minutes.

Wakiso Giants completed the game with 10 men after defender Simon Namwanja was shown marching orders following a second bookable offense.

The Jogoos move up to 10th place with 25 points, 5 above red zoned Soltilo Bright Stars who have a game less.

Wakiso Giants remain 7th on 33 points.

In the other matches of the day, Villa’s closest rivals Busoga United beat Tooro United 1-0 in Jinja and URA were held by Arua Hill at Ndejje.
