Volleyball: Debutants OBB dethrone Nemostars as Men’s Serie A Champions

Debutants Orange Blockbusters clinched a maiden title as they defeated Nemostars 2-1 in the best of three series. They came from a game down to force a decider which they won 3-1 on Sunday at Old Kampala Arena.

OBB won game three (25-22,22-25, 25-19, 25-21) to claim the Uganda National Volleyball title.

Nemostars were searching for their fourth consecutive title and seventh overall.

OBB lost setter John Bosco Opendi in the second set after suffering a knee injury. He was replaced by Hussein Adome.

Nemostars captain George Aporu revealed that they are to regroup and focus on next season

“We have ourselves to blame, but i want to congratulate OBB for the good show, we will regroup and resume in a week or two for the new season.” Said Aporu Captain Nemostars

In the women category, Ndejje Elites beat Vision Volleyball Camp 3-1 to win the 2022 National Club Championship.

Elyon Volleyball Club beat Bugema University 3-2 (27-29, 25-16, 28-26, 22-25, 15-12) to win the Serie C. Elyon won the best of three series 2-0 and gained Serie B status

Ndejje, KCCA qualified to represent Uganda at the women’s African Club Championships slated in Tunis, Tunisia, from May 19 to June 1, 2022 while OBB and Sport-S qualified to represent Uganda in the Men’s Africa Club Championship May 5-18th 2022.
