Wakiso Giants get off the mark with victory over Blacks Power

Wakiso Giants managed to register their first win of the season after defeating debutants Blacks Power 2-1 at Kabaka Kyabaggu Stadium in Wakiso.

Striker Norman Ogik and substitute Titus Ssematimba scored the two goals for Wakiso Giants in the first and the second half respectively.

Ogik put the Purple Sharks in a deserved lead from Frank Ssebufu’s cross eight minutes to the half time break.

Ssematimba extended the lead in the 77th minute from Owen Kasule’s long range ball.

Ssematimba had replaced Mikidad Senyonga in the 55th minute. Kasule was eventually named the man of the match.

The consolation goal for the visitors was scored in the last minute of the game by their talisman Micheal Siwu which was also their second goal in the league.

The game was Hussein Mbalangu’s first in the dugout of Blacks Power after replacing Peter Onen.

Blacks Power remained winless after four games having lost on three occasions and drawn once.

Wakiso Giants will next play UPDF FC on Tuesday 25th at Bombo Barracks Military grounds while Blacks Power host Onduparaka FC on Friday 28th at Akii Bua Stadium, Lira.
