Uganda’s Weightlifter Davis Niyoyita of Kisugu Weightlifting club scooped Silver at the Senior World weightlifting championship in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.
Niyoyita excelled in the 55 category lifting 220Kgs -95 in Snatch and 125 in the clean and Jerk.
The Weightlifter did not perform to his best at the Youth World Weightlifting championship in South Arabia since he was horrendously affected injuries.

“I am delighted to have won a silver medal at the ongoing World weightlifting championship. I thank my coaches, federation and teammates for the support and now focus turns to the 2022 Commonwealth games in Birmingham.”

Meanwhile, Ibrahim Nsubuga (Black Monster Jinja) of 67 category finished fourth in group C after managing a total of 200Kg -85 in Snatch and 115 in clean and Jerk.

On Friday, 10th December, team Captain Hakim Ssempereza Musoke who won Silver at the 2019 World Weightlifting championship will be in action.
Godfrey Baligeya will be in action in the Heavyweight category (109+) on December, 16th. The outstanding performers automatically qualify for the 2022 Commonwealth games.
