Uganda’s Leonard Chemutai prevailed to the 3000m Steeplechase final of the 2023 World Athletics Championship in Hungary, Budapest.
Chemutai a debutant at the event finished fifth in Heat Two in 8:24.74 to book a place into Tuesday’s final.
American athlete Kenneth Rooks won Heat Two in a time of 8:23.66 while Morocco’s Soufiane El Bakkali was second in 8:23.66.
Tunisia’s Mohamed Amin finished third in 8:24.20
with Abraham Kibiwot (Keny) settling for fourth in 8:24.31.

The first five athletes in each heat progressed to the final.
Chemutai clinched Gold at the World Mountain and Trail running Championship that was held in June this year.
