Wydad Casablanca tracking down Uganda Cranes duo

Reports from Morocco indicate Wydad Athletic Club Casablanca have Uganda Cranes duo of KCCA’s Allan Okello and Vipers striker Fahad Bayo on their transfer radar.

Okello and Bayo are arguably the most sought after players in the Uganda Premier League today after successfully guiding Uganda Cranes to their 15 CECAFA triumph last month.

Reports reveal that it is former Uganda Cranes coach Sebastien Desabre who recommended both players to Wydad Casablanca. Desabre coached the Moroccan side between 2016-17 and he has since then been in contact with his former paymasters.

However, credible sources understand that neither KCCA nor Vipers have received any established offer from the two-time African champions for the players.

Wydad already sent out Nigerian Gabriel Okechukwu on loan to second tier side SCC Mohammedia to create more room for foreign players following the departure of defender Murushid Jjuuko last month.

It is left to see whether Wydad Casablanca will make any formal bid to sign any of the two players as part of their midseason reinforcements.

Okello has been linked to a move to Azam FC in Tanzania since his contract will expire at the end of the year and efforts of luring him to sign an extension went futile.

Bayo has scored a total of 15 goals for both club and country since signing a two year contract with Vipers.

Wydad Casablanca will be hoping to sign new players who are eligible to compete in the continental engagements.

They have already unveiled Soufiane Kerkache, a utility player from RS Berkane as their first signing in the midseason window.
