Big League side Kataka will face joint Stanbic Uganda Cup record winners KCCA FC in the round of 32 after winning their petition over Gorilla Highlanders.
Kataka petitioned FUFA that Gorilla used two ineligible players Imurora Sotric and Patrick Nduwayeza.
Gorilla Highlanders had won 2-0 in the Round of 64.
The statement from the FUFA Disciplinary panel reads,
“On analysis of the adduced evidence as well as information obtained by the CDP from the Competitions Department, it was established that the Players Imurora Sotric and Nduwayeza Patrick were ineligible to play in the match as they were not licensed to play for Gorillah Highland FC at the time of the match.”
“On the basis of the above, the CDP found Gorillah Highland FC guilty of using ineligible players in the Stanbic Uganda Cup game between Gorilla Highlanders FC and Kataka FC.
“As a consequence, Gorilla Highlanders FC loses the match by forfeiture and is eliminated from the Competition.
“Kataka FC, the opponent in the match progresses to the next round of the Stanbic Uganda Cup.”
The developments mean that Kataka will host KCCA at the Round of 32.
Meanwhile, Arua Hill’s petition against Elite FC has been dismissed.
Elite FC eliminated Arua Hill 2-1 on penalties at the round of 64 stage after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time.
After bowing out, Arua Hill petitioned FUFA that Elite FC used a player in the names of Ogwang Edmond who was ineligible.
The Arua outfit claimed Ogwang is registered by Tawai FC in the same Competition on 4th February, 2023.
Arua also stated that the same player is licensed to play for Tawai FC in the names of Ogwang Jimmy Santos on the FUFA Connect System.
They also revealed that another Elite FC Player Opio Abraham also features for Blacks Power FC U17 team and is not licensed to play for Elite FC.
“After consideration of the legal regime, the CDP turned its attention to whether the
players Ogwang Edward and Opio Abraham featured in the match between Elite FC and Arua Hill SC were eligible to play.”
“On analysis of the adduced evidence as well as information obtained by the CDP from the Competitions Department, it was established that the Players Ogwang Edward and Opio Abraham were eligible to play for Elite FC.
“On the basis of the above, Arua Hill SC’s petition is dismissed and the result of the match is maintained.”
Following the decision, Adjumani Town council will host Elite FC in the round of 32.
