Ugandan long distance runner Jacob Kiplimo was unanimously voted as USPA Sports personality of February.
Kiplimo dethroned compatriot Joshua Cheptegei to the World Cross Country title in Australia last month.
He clinched the title in a time of 29 minutes and 17 seconds to beat second placed Berihu Aregawi.
In the same race, Ugandan icon Cheptegei settled for bronze after finishing third.
Meanwhile, the Association has introduced an award for the promising talent and supportive/assist award.
Gazelles and UCU Lady Canons’ coach Nicholas Natuhereza was the first to be voted by the assembly for the supportive assist award.
Natuhereza helped to raise talent through the UCU basketball program. He got 185 points to beat Uganda Badminton Association CEO Simon Mugabi (180), Zaitun Namaganda (140) and Rogers Nkuggwa (90).
Badminton’s Eric Ofoyuru won the promising talent award after garnering 180 points, Uganda Hippos Rogers Mugisha managed 165, Asubo Gafford’s Kamiat Naigaga got 155 and KCCA Soccer Academy’s Amos Aikobua (115)
