David Owori netted the all important goal as SC Villa beat BUL FC 1-0 at the Akii-bua Memorial Stadium in Lira on Tuesday.
Owori struck at the stroke of halftime for his second goal of the campaign since he reunited with the 16 time Uganda Premier league champions in January.
It was sweet revenge for Villa who were eliminated from the Stanbic Uganda Cup by BUL FC and are now just a point below leaders KCCA FC on the log. The Jinja based side also beat Villa in the first round meeting.
BUL under the stewardship of Simeon Masaba didn’t create enough scoring opportunities despite being dominant in possession.
Villa have now won four of the five games they have hosted at Akii Bua Stadium while serving the FUFA punishment due to fan hooliganism. They have only lost against KCCA FC in the games they have hosted in Lira.
The Jogoos are now just a point below leaders KCCA on the Uganda Premier league table. They have garnered 34 points in 18 games.
BUL FC remain third on the Uganda Premier league log with 29 points in 18 games.
