2023 NCBA Uganda Juniors Golf Open launched

The third edition of the NCBA Uganda Juniors Golf open has officially been launched on Tuesday, 28th March 2023 at the Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa Course in Kigo.

The official launch was graced by the Uganda Golf Union President Moses Matisko, NCBA Bank Uganda Chief Executive Officer Mark Muyobo, Director of Golf at Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa Theodore Van Rooyen and Flavia Namakula the national team head coach.

At the launch, main sponsors NCBA Bank Uganda announced a package of Shs27M.

“It gives me great pleasure to be here as the sponsor of this event. Our goal as NCBA is to create awareness which is a regional brand and spark the young ones into the game of golf. NCBA Bank is committed towards supporting the junior golf in Uganda and the region. Developing young talent is critical in the growth of golf in the country.” Said Muyobo.

Theodore Van Rooyen, Director of Golf, Lake Victoria Serena Golf Resort and Spa revealed that over ten countries have confirmed participation in the tournament

“The tournament will be comprised of hosts Uganda who will be joined by Kenya, Tanzania, Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Austria, United States of America (USA), Spain and others.”
The tournament mode of play will be stroke play.” Said Theodore Van Rooyen

The official practice round will take place on Holiday Saturday, 8th April 2023.

The tournament will then officially begin on Easter Sunday, 9th April and end on Easter Monday, 10th April 2023.

The NCBA Uganda open offers young golfers the opportunity to compete in a multi-day championship event and qualify for the U.S Kids Golf priority status.

The tournament features 17 clubs played across the region (Uganda and Kenya)Series will also be played in Rwanda and Tanzania for the first time since inception.


There are various categories that different players will be pooled to play.

There will be 6 & Under, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, up to 18 year olds for the boys’ gender

The girls’ gender will comprise of players from 8 & Under, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, 14, 15 and 18 years.
