Five star Police make light work of Luweero United

Promotion hopefuls Police rediscovered their winning touch with a 5-2 thumping of Luweero United at the Kavumba Recreation Grounds.

Dennis Kalanzi, Herman Wasswa, Jackson Ssemugabi, Emmanuel Mugume and defender David Jakony were on target for the Cops.

Kalanzi who was signed from Kaaro Karungi in the mid-season, opened the scores as early as the 7th minute from a perfect Herman Wasswa ball.

10 minutes later, Jakony made it 2-0 with his first ever goal in the Police FC colours.

Wasswa turned the scorer and made it 3-0 in the 31st minute, ensuring a comfortable lead at half time.

Mugume made it 4-0 with 9th goal of the season following a brilliant cross by Wasswa two minutes into the second half.

Skipper Enock Kabugo pulled one back for Luweero in the 55th minute before Jackson Ssemugabi restored the four goal cushion for Police in the 80th minute.

Isaac Balyejusa reduced the deficit three minutes to normal time with his 12th goal of the season.

The win took police to 43 points, one behind the second and third placed Mbarara City and NEC FC but also four behind leaders Kitara FC.

Luweero dropped to the relegation zone in the 13th place but are level on 28 points with Kataka FC and Ndejje University in the 11th and 12th places respectively.

Luweero’s next game will be a relegation six-pointer against neighbors Ndejje while Police will visit Soroti City.
