Rines SS defeated Makerere University 3-2 in a Women Super League encounter played at Kabaka Kyabaggu to move out of the relegation zone.

The result left Makerere bottom of the table on 15 points, same as former champions Lady Doves who have not won a game in the second round.

Aminah Nababi, Jesca Namanda and Eva Naggayi scored the three goals for Rines while Makerere found the back of the net through Tanzanian forward Husna Ayoub Mpanja and an own goal from Shakira Nalule.

Nababi opened the scores in the 7th minute of the game with a powerful low drive that was not well dealt with by the Makerere goalkeeper Zahara Nankya.

Makerere responded with a goal of the season contender scored by Mpanja who struck the equalizer from resultant restart from the center circle with the goalkeeper Elsie Najjemba off her line.

However, Najjemba made amends for her sloppy goalkeeping when she provided an assist for Namanda to restore the lead for the home side in the 25th minute.

The second half started with Makerere University equalizing as Mpanja’s wonderful strike came off the cross bar and got deflected from Nalule’s leg to hit the back of the net in the 47th minute.

Rines restored their lead once again through National U20 midfielder Eva Naggayi who scored perfectly from the penalty spot following a foul on Namanda in the 58th minute.
