NEC FC have been held to a goalless draw by Jinja North United at the Bugembe Stadium in Jinja.

The result sends NEC to the third place as Mbarara City take up the second position.

NEC were the better side and had a number of goal scoring chances coming their way but couldn’t take them away.

David Tonny Kiberu had a glorious chance to put NEC upfront in the 6th minute when he went one on one with the keeper but his strike came off the cross bar.

Richard Ajuna had his goal from close range disallowed for offside following a goal mouth scramble in the 16th minute.

Jinja North also had an opportunity to seize the lead moments into the second half but Bashir Kabi and David Bagoole failed to make the best of a well orchestrated counter attack.

NEC are third on 51 points on level with second placed Mbarara City who have a superior goal difference.

Mbarara City beat Soroti City 1-0 courtesy of Geoffrey Sunday while leaders Kitara were held by Luweero United to a 1-1 draw.

NEC will host Lugazi in their next game while Jinja North will visit relegation threatened Kataka FC in Mbale.
