The Uganda Netball Federation President Sarah Babirye Kityo has been granted bail on Wednesday by the Buganda Road Court.
Babirye is jointly charged with a business woman Zainab Namutebi over obtaining money by false pretence.
The two are accused on charges of obtaining Shs16M by falsely pretending to take people to the US.
Babirye’s accusers include Sarah Wamala who claims she paid her eight million shillings to take her son overseas and Gloria Kikomeko Nantambi who says she paid Babirye another eight million shillings to take her.
On Monday, the duo pleaded not guilty to two counts before Grade One Magistrate Siena Owomugisha.
They were remanded to Luzira Prison until today for their bail application.
Owomugisha has granted them bail and were asked to pay Shs1M each cash and each of their sureties was asked a non cash bond of Shs4M.
Last month, Babirye was ordered by the Minister of Education and Sports Janet Kataha Museveni to step aside from her office as Netball President for a period of three months due to issues concerning governance, accountability of funds and management of the Federation.
Flavia Byekwaso is currently serving as the Federation President on interim basis.
Meanwhile, the Uganda Boxing Federation President Moses Muhangi is still detained by the CID on allegations of allegations of forgery, uttering false documents and misappropriation.
