Chelsea striker Pierre Emerick Aubameyang has reversed his retirement from the Gabon national team ahead of match day 5 of the ongoing AFCON Qualifiers.
The 33 year old has been named in the Gabonese 23 man squad that will face DR Congo in Franceville, Gabon next month.
His return comes exactly after a year when he officially announced retirement from the national team.
Gabon president Ali Bongo Ondimba convinced the former Arsenal, Barcelona and Dortmund striker to rescind his decision as the country intends to qualify for the AFCON tournament for the 9th time in history.
Aubameyang is Gabon’s all time leading scorer with 28 goals from 68 appearances and his return is a major boast for the Panthers.

Gabon currently lead Group I with seven points, while Sudan, Mauritania and DR Congo follow with six, five and four points respectively.
Their final qualification game will be against Mauritania in a winner takes it all situation in September.
