Misagga to head Buganda Royal Regatta Committee

Minister for Youth, Sports and recreation in the Buganda Kingdom, Owek. Henry Ssekabembe Kiberu has officially launched a 13-member committee headed by Engineer Immanuel ⁦Ben Misagga⁩ to organize, govern and promote the Buganda Royal Regatta(Empaka Z’amaato Ez’amasaza).

The committee was launched on Tuesday morning at Buganda Kingdom headquarters in Mengo.

Renown NTV local news anchor and Mwasuze Mutya show Faridah Nakazibwe has joined the committee as Vice chairperson deputizing Misagga.

The committee of 13 has been will serve the Kingdom for three years.

“I thank his Majesty the Kabaka for entrusting me to serve the Kingdom once again. I promise to do everything possible to see that we organize competitive and successful events.” Said Misagga

The Royal Regatta was last held in 2019 but was halted for the last three years due to the horrendous Covid-19 turmoil.

Misagga remains optimistic that the competition will return this year with a bang and expected to be held in August.

The Committee also has Akulo Olive, Patricia Najjemba, Ronnie Mutebi Nsubuga, Joseph Mugagga, Batenga Nakisozi, Angella Nambooze, Morris Mukiibi, Aisha Nassanga, Robert Lwanga Mugerwa and Hassan Kiyemba.
