Buhimba Saints clinch Kitara Regional league title after shootout victory over Rwenzori Lions

Albert group leaders Buhimba Saints United FC have defeated Edward group leaders Rwenzori Lions 4-2 in spot kicks to emerge champions of the Kitara Regional League.

Both sides played to a goalless full-time draw at Raboni playground Kyarusozi Kyenjojo before Buhimba Saints United emerging champions 4-2 in spot kicks.

Rwenzori Lions FC had led Edward group with 58 points from 22 games while Buhimba Saints United FC topped Albert group with 52 points from the same number of games.

This is second consecutive time Rwenzori Lions has lost a promotional play off final.

Last season they lost 2-0 to Booma FC at Muhoro grounds in Kagadi District in a game that saw Booma FC earn FUFA Big League promotion.

Buhimba Saints United FC will face off with Kigezi Homeboyz the Western Regional League debutants in a two legged final.

The first game will be played at Kabale Main Stadium on Wednesday 22nd June, the return is to be played on 30th of the same month at Kigaya grounds in Kikuube District.

The aggregate winner will then automatically join the FUFA Big League
