Tunisian heavyweights Esperance Sportive de Tunis are set to sign Ugandan defender Richard Kassaga on a two year contract.
Kassaga currently plays for Olympique Beja, another Tunisian club from where he caught the eye of Esperance.
Negotiations are underway between both clubs so as to finalize the transfer of Kassaga at the end of the Tunisia Ligue 1 season.
Kassaga was instrumental as Olympique Beja stunned Esperance 1-0 to win this season’s Tunisian Cup last month.
Last season, Kassaga also helped Olympique Beja to survive relegation in his first year in Tunisia.
In case the deal materializes, Kassaga will join Jackson Mayanja ‘Mia Mia’ and Charles Livingstone Mbabazi as Ugandan players who have played for the Tunisian record champions.
Kassaga has also previously played for Aizawl FC in India, Salam Zgharta in Lebanon as well as URA FC, KCCA FC and the now defunct Kira Young in the Uganda Premier League.
