Former Express goalkeeper Mathias Muwanga has completed a move to Rwanda Premier League newbies Etoile de L’Est FC on a one year contract.

Muwanga has been a free agent since leaving Onduparaka FC at the end of last year.

He has been a transfer target of SC Villa but opted for a move to the land of a thousand hills.

Muwanga is a two time goalkeeper of the year award winner having emerged the best in 2016 with Sadolin Paints and 2021 while playing for Express FC.

He also featured for URA FC between 2016-18 before moving to Express FC.

Etoile de L’Est is also home to former Police FC midfielder Arafat Kakonge and former Kisugu United Boris Kwezi.

The Eastern Province club earned promotion back to the topflight at the end of last season.

Muwanga joins a growing list of Ugandans who have transferred to the Rwanda Premier League in this current transfer window.

These are; Charles Bbaale and Simon Tamale (both to Rayon Sports), Emmanuel Kalyowa and Brian Kalumba (both to Kiyovu Sports) and Taddeo Lwanga who joined APR FC.
