2023 Netball World Cup: She Cranes power past Singapore in opener

She Cranes opened their 2023 Netball World Cup campaign with victory over Singapore on Friday.

Uganda beat Singapore 79-37 at the Cape Town International Conventional Centre in Cape Town South Africa.

She Cranes head coach Fred Mugerwa started captain Irene Eyaru and goalsgooter Mary Nuba on the bench.

Shadia Nassanga and Hannisha Muhammed had astonishing World Cup debuts.

After the second quarter, Muhammad had already managed to score 31 from her 35 attempts with Nassanga registering 11 in 13 attempts.

The pair was rested and replaced by Nuba and team captain Eyaru.

Uganda will next face off with World champions New Zealand on Saturday. The holders beat Trinidad and Tobago 76-27 in their first game.
