Netball World Cup: Majestic Nuba fires She Cranes back to winning ways

Mary Nuba inspired Uganda Women’s national Netball team, the She Cranes back to winning ways with a comfortable 73-56 victory over Wales on Wednesday at the 2023 Netball World Cup.

Uganda had lost their previous game against Jamaica 49-61 a result that ended their chances of prevailing to the Semifinal.

Fred Mugerwa coached side however put up a dominant performance against Wales.

Nuba finished the game with 42 goals from her 44 attempts while Shadiah Nassanga who came off the bench scored 11 from 11 and also registered 12 assists to her name.

At halftime, Uganda were leading 36-27 with Nuba scoring 26 from her 27 attempts at the time.

Maggie Baagala had 23 goals assists, with Sarah Nakiyunga adding 16 in a game.

Shaffie Nalwanja was named player of the match.

The win saw Uganda avenge Wales 47-49 defeat at the Global Showpiece that was held in Australia in 2015.

Uganda cannot prevail to the Semifinal and will next face off with South Africa on Thursday and victory will see them finish fifth or sixth.
