Ukasha, Nakalema power into Africa Boxing Championship semis

Seven boxers on the Uganda Boxing national team (Bombers) are into the Semi-Finals of the ongoing Africa Elite Boxing Championship in Cameroon.

The development means that Uganda is now guaranteed seven medals at the ongoing Africa Boxing Championship.

On Wednesday, Uganda’s welterweight boxer Ukasha Matovu prevailed to the Semifinal after beating Senegal’s Cheikh Diop.

Ssali Wasswa also headed into the medal brackets (Semi Final) after defeating Burkina Faso Naba Ousmane on Wednesday night.

On Tuesday, Okello progressed to the semis after winning by spilt decision (3:2) against Equatorial Guinea’s Obama Mangue.

The four boxers join Erina Namutebi, Grace Nankinga and Geko Solomon got a bye to the semis.

This means each of the seven semifinalists will settle for $5000 at the very least while Silver medalists will scoop $10000 and $15000 for the Gold medalists.
