FUFA Big League side Onduparaka FC have acquired winger Faisal Ssekyanzi on a one year contract.

Ssekyanzi has been a free agent after his initial three year contract with Express FC expired at the end of last season.

He is expected to play a crucial role as the Caterpillars embark on a campaign for promotion back to the topflight league.

Ssekyanzi is a former Young Player of the Year award winner in the 2015 FUFA Awards following his exploits with Express FC and St. Mary’s Heritage.

He was promoted to the Express senior team in 2016 but found it playing time hard to come his way.

Commonly known as ‘Small Axe’ by his peers for his trickery, Ssekyanzi returned to Wankulukuku in 2020 from Tooro United and signed a three year contract.

He won the Uganda Premier League and the CECAFA Kagame Cup in 2021 under the tutelage of coach Wasswa Bbosa.

This website understands, Ssekyanzi was a transfer target of SC Villa and Maroons FC but no compromise was reached following a series of talks.

At Onduparaka, he will be coached by former Express striker Ceaser Samson Okhuti who was recently appointed as the club’s new head coach.
