Record Uganda Premier league champions SC Villa have suffered a huge injury blow ahead of their league opener.
The club’s central defender Edward Masembe broke his jaw during their friendly game against Bright Stars on Thursday at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
Masembe was rushed to St.Catherine hospital to receive further medical attention after the injury.
Masembe joins Denis Ojara who suffered a Complete tear of the Anterior Cruciate Ligament(ACL)[Grade 3] during the club’s FUFA Super 8 game against Maroons last month.
New signing Gavin Kizito Mugweri and club captain Kenneth Semakula are expected to fill up the void.
SC Villa under the stewardship of Serbian tactician Dusan Stojanovic will begin their league campaign against newly promoted Kitara FC on 15th September at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.
