Busoga United have suffered an embarrassing 5-0 defeat this evening at the MTN Omondi stadium at the hands of newcomers NEC FC.
The Eastern based side were on the back of an impressive 1-0 victory away in Adjumani and hoped to build on it facing the newbies.
Inspirational captain Marvin Kavuma scored a brace and the others were scored by Rashid Okocha (pen), Allan Mugalu and Brian Kayanja.
The floodgates were opened as early as the 8th minute when Kavuma pounced on a loose ball which the Busoga defence failed to clear.
22 minutes later, live wire Allan Mugalu was brought down in the forbidden area and Rashid Okocha finished the business.
Allan Mugalu made sure uis name touches the score sheet with an easy tap in before Brian Kayanja glided a sumptuous lob in the back of the net to send the match in half time with NEC having a 4 goal cushion.
In resumption for the second period, the harm was already done and Busoga played for damage limitation and they managed to achieve that until the 85th minute when Kavuma netted his second of the day.
Victory puts NEC on top of the UPL log with 6 points and 6 goals.
Busoga United will next host Express FC on Thursday, 28th while NEC will travel to record winners SC Villa at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku the following day.
