Makerere University 2-2 Kampala Queens
FUFA Women Super League holders Kampala Queens dropped points for the first time this season after drawing 2-2 with Makerere University at the University playground on Sunday.
Kampala Queens led the game 2-0 courtesy of Fazila Ikwaput but Makerere fought back with two late goals from skipper Josephine Ndagire and Jemima Twesigye.
Ikwaput put the Queens in the lead in the 9th minute with an acrobatic finish from Shamira Nalugya’s cross.
The Crested Cranes forward doubled the lead with an easy finish after Makerere’s keeper Zahara Nankya had saved Zaina Nandede’s attempt in the 62nd minute.
Ndagire pulled one back for She Mak with a finish from Winnie Nakanwagi’s cross in the 86th minute.
Makerere were awarded a penalty by referee Shamira Nabadda in the 90th minute following Lukiya Namubiru’s handball in the area.
Jemima Twesigye stepped up and flawlessly converted and ultimately won salvaged a point for the University side.
Both Kampala Queens and Makerere are now tied on four points after two games having won their opening games against Uganda Martyrs and Wakiso Hill respectively.
Kawempe Muslim beat UCU Lady Cardinals 1-0 courtesy of Mary Kabaculeezi to go top of the table with six points.
Lady Doves beat Asubo Ladies 4-1 at Kampala Quality in the other game played on Sunday.
