Brian Senyondo’s men Kitara FC put their Vipers’ heartache to bed with a 1-0 home victory over Express FC at Masindi Stadium.
The Red Eagles have now seen their winless streak extend to seven games and drop to 11th place in the process.
Kitara, the best performing newly promoted side thus far have now closed the gap on leaders BUL FC to only 4 points after hitting 22 points, the best they have managed in the topflight at this stage.
Experienced winger Paul Mucurezi repaid the faith entrusted in him by Senyondo after reinstating him in the starting eleven with a sumptuous header thanks to a beautifully weighted cross from Kabon Living.
Mucurezi’s goal came in the 38th minute and sent the game to half time with Kitara leading.
Alex Isabirye who was taking charge of his first away game since being appointed interim coach for Express, tried to instigate a comeback. Emmanuel Alex Wasswa’s effort was only too good for the woodwork.
Express will now turn their heads towards another impressive new side NEC FC on 21st December as Kitara with visit tough to beat at home Mbarara City on 20th December 2023.
