Mbarara City FC kicked off their second round campaign with a 3-1 win over Express FC at Kakyeka Stadium.
Express FC came into this contest in search of their first ever victory over the Ankole Lions at Kakyeka.
However, the side smiled to maximum points over the Alex Isabirye Musongola’s Red Eagles.
A brace from Henry Kitegenyi while skipper Joseph Akandwanaho added the other goal for the hosts.
Midfielder Hussein Ssenoga struck for the visitors.
Kitegenyi gave the home side the lead in the 31st minute from the spot after Sadat Nsubuga had been fouled in the forbidden area.
Five minutes later, Ssenoga levelled matters for the visitors before Akandwanaho regained Ankole Lions advantage at the stroke of halftime.
Kitegenyi completed his brace in stoppage time to seal the victory for Wasswa Bbosa coached side who move to 10th on the Uganda Premier league table with 20 points while Express FC are sixth on 25 points.
