Masaza Cup: Felix Ssekabuza lands new coaching job

Buwekula have agreed terms with former Gomba Lions head coach Felix Ssekabuza ahead of this year’s Masaza Cup.

He replaces Frank Mulindwa who has been at the helms for the last three editions.

Joseph Kyambadde head of technical confirmed the development,

“We have agreed terms with Ssekabuza to take over as our next coach. He is an experienced tactician and we believe he will lead us to the Masaza Cup triumph this year.” Said Kyambadde.

Ssekabuza is expected to unveil his assistants before the kickoff of this year’s competition.

During the 2023 edition, Ssekabuza guided record Masaza Cup winners Gomba to their 10th final before losing to Bulemeezi.

In 2022, Ssekabuza together with Simon Peter Mugerwa they guided Busiro to their first ever Masaza Cup crown beating Buddu 2-1 in the final at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Ssekabuza has also previously worked at Ssingo, Busujju, Kyaggwe and Gomba. He also serves as Gaddafi FC assistant coach in the Uganda Premier league.

Buwekula have never won the Masaza Cup tournament but have twice reached the final in 2012 losing to Bulemeezi 1-0 and 2021 where they lost 2-0 to Buddu.
