Express, BUL FC glide past regional league sides to reach Round of 32

BUL FC and Express FC have sealed places in the round of 32 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup in the rescheduled fixtures played today.

BUL FC beat Buganda Regional League side Simba FC 3-0 at Namulonge ground in Gayaza.

Ibrahim Kazindula, Walter Ochora and second half substitute Alex Kitata were on target for the 2022 Uganda Cup winners.

Simba, coached by former Express and Wakiso Giants coach Alex Gitta proved a hard nut to crack until the stroke of halftime.

Kazindula broke the deadlock in the 41st minute with a thumping shot after goalkeeper Hamza Lutaaya had saved an initial shot.

Ochora doubled the lead with a header from Jeromy Kirya’s well delivered corner kick in the 54th minute.

Kitata who replaced Gerald Ogweti in the 70th minute, made it 3-0 in the added minutes.

Express on the other hand laboured to a slim 1-0 win over Eastern Regional League side MYDA FC at the Kongunga Primary School Ground in Bukedea.

Innocent Opira was unfortunate to score an own goal following Mansoor Safi Agu’s free kick in the 67th minute.

MYDA are coached by former Express and Uganda Cranes defender Richard Malinga.

Express will next host Rwenzori Lions in the round of 32 on Sunday 18th February while BUL will visit Kyambura Rasters on the same day in Rubirizi district.

The final game of the round of 64 will be between URA FC and Kumi United to be played on Saturday 17th February at Booma Grounds in Kumi district.
