Stanbic Uganda Cup: Express FC avoid Rwenzori Lions upset as KCCA FC eliminate Jinja North

Express FC and KCCA FC cruised to the round of 16 of the Stanbic Uganda Cup after eliminating Rwenzori Lions FC and Jinja North FC respectively.

Alex Isabirye’s Express needed a 8-7 shootout win to overcome Rwenzori Lions FC after a 1-1 stalemate in normal time at Muteesa II Stadium in Wankulukuku.

Alirwot David Opio gave the visitors the lead from a well taken penalty at the stroke of halftime.

The Red Eagles levelled matters through a Isaac Wagoina penalty in the 85th minute to send the tie into penalties.

Elsewhere, KCCA FC powered into the last 16 after a 2-0 win over Jinja North FC at Kakindu Stadium.

Muhammad Shaban and Saidi Mayanja goals sent the Lugogo based side into the last 16.

Express FC and KCCA FC join Kitara FC and Police FC in the round of 16.

Action will resume tomorrow with two games SC Villa taking on Synergy FC at Wankulukuku while Kyambura Rasters will battle BUL FC.
