FUFA Big League leaders Police FC and second placed Lugazi FC were both held to respective draws as the second tier league resumed on Thursday.
Police were held to a goalless draw by Kaaro Karungi at the St. George’s Arena in Ibanda.
Lugazi were similarly held to a 1-1 home draw by Booma FC at the Lugazi FC Stadium.
Striker Sam Ssemugugu gave Lugazi the lead by John Wesley Kisakye equalized for Booma in the 75th minute.
Mbale Heroes were the biggest beneficiaries on the day as they closed in with a 1-0 win over Young Elephant at the Anaka Primary School Playground in Nwoya.
Second half substitute Faizal Kiberu scored the all important goal in the 88th minute to win all three points for the Asaph Mwebaze coached team.
Mbale Heroes are third on the Big League table with 31 points same as Lugazi FC who have a superior goal difference.
Police FC lead the table with 33 points from 16 games played so far.
The Cops will return to action on Sunday 10th March when they host Jinja North while Mbale Heroes will host Kigezi Homeboyz on the same day.
Lugazi will return to action in a fortnight as they take on Calvary at the Lugazi FC Stadium.
